Our Story

Founded in 1929 by a dedicated group of local parents, Erie Day School was established to create a progressive, independent educational environment in Erie, Pennsylvania. The founders envisioned a school that would encourage freedom of movement in the classroom, promote learning through practical experiences, and foster close cooperation between the school and parents. With the generous support of Erie industrialist Charles Hamot Strong, who donated the real estate for the campus, the school opened its doors to fifty eager students on October 1, 1929.
