The Heartwarming Story of E.A.R.S.

The journey of the Erie Area Rabbit Society & Rescue, affectionately known as E.A.R.S., began on a chilly November day in 2012. Linda Jones discovered a frightened black bunny hiding beneath a car at a local dealership. This little bunny, later named Jukie, captured Linda's heart, leading her to visit him daily, building trust and friendship. After weeks of dedication, Jukie was finally rescued, marking the inception of E.A.R.S.

Alongside Ron Steger, who shared her passion for bunnies, Linda envisioned a community dedicated to the welfare of these gentle creatures. Starting from humble beginnings in a small warehouse, E.A.R.S. has grown into a vibrant rescue organization. In 2014, they moved to a bright pink building on West 38th Street, transforming it into a safe haven for rabbits in need.

E.A.R.S. operates as a 100% no-kill shelter, providing a safe refuge for rabbits rescued from abandonment, cruelty, and neglect. Since its inception, E.A.R.S. has cared for hundreds of domestic rabbits, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve. The organization relies solely on private contributions, as it receives no public funding.
