Our Story
Founded in 2009 by Zeke Vanderhoek in Washington Heights, The Equity Project Charter School is dedicated to achieving educational equity for underserved students. With a focus on attracting and retaining master teachers, TEP has grown to serve 1,080 students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Impact
TEP has consistently achieved the highest student performance in English Language Arts and Math among non-selective middle schools in District 6 for the past four years. Notably, 14% of its students outperformed all NYC students on the NYS 2023 Math exam, serving a predominantly low-income and diverse population.
