Our Story

The Equity Alliance (TEA) is a grassroots organization founded in 2016 in Tennessee by Charlane Oliver and Tequila Johnson. Dedicated to building independent Black political and economic power, TEA focuses on educating, empowering, and mobilizing Black communities to take action and hold the government accountable.

Impact

Recognized as Tennessee's leading Black-led organization, TEA mobilizes the Black electorate to engage civically and challenge systemic inequities. Their impactful work has earned accolades, including the Tennessean’s 2020 People of the Year award.
