Our Story

Equitable Origin was founded in 2009, inspired by firsthand experiences with oil and gas development impacting indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Through extensive engagement with affected communities and stakeholders, Equitable Origin pioneered the world’s first independent certification for responsibly-operated oil production sites in 2014. Today, Equitable Origin operates across North and South America, with dedicated teams in Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, and Colombia.
