Our Story

Born on the banks of the threatened Stanislaus River in 1972, Environmental Traveling Companions (ETC) became the first nonprofit in the nation to offer adaptive whitewater adventures for youth from under-resourced backgrounds and people with disabilities.

Since 1972, ETC has transformed the lives of over 103,000 participants, including individuals with visual or mobility impairments, developmental disabilities, and youth facing significant challenges.
