Our Story

In 1991, public interest lawyers from ten countries came together at the University of Oregon School of Law, igniting a collaborative movement to protect communities and the environment through law. Inspired by shared challenges in environmental and human rights, these advocates began a cross-border partnership that has flourished over the decades. Today, ELAW connects public interest advocates in over 80 countries, fostering a global network dedicated to environmental protection.
