About The Wild Animal Sanctuary

Established in 1980, The Wild Animal Sanctuary (TWAS) is the largest and oldest sanctuary of its kind in the world, located on 1,214 acres of rolling grasslands outside of Keenesburg, Colorado. This state and federally licensed facility is home to over 750 large carnivores, including lions, tigers, and bears, all rescued from abusive or illegal situations.

Impact of The Wild Animal Sanctuary

With a commitment to animal welfare, TWAS has responded to more than 1,000 rescue requests from private citizens and government agencies. The sanctuary provides a safe haven for animals that have been abandoned, abused, or exploited, allowing them to thrive in natural habitats designed for their needs.

Why Donate?

Your generous donations ensure that rescued animals receive essential care, including food, veterinary services, and rehabilitation. Supporting TWAS means providing a safe and nurturing environment for large carnivores who have suffered unimaginable hardships.
