Our Story
The Englewood Housing Authority was established before 1976, with the goal of constructing the Tibbs Senior Citizen Building, which opened its doors in 1976. This facility, comprising 152 units, was funded as a public housing unit under the U.S. Department of HUD. In 2017, the Tibbs building transitioned to the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) project, converting all public housing units to Project Based Voucher status. Recognizing the growing need for family assistance, the Housing Authority expanded its services by applying for Section 8 certificates, currently managing 501 housing choice vouchers throughout Englewood.
Over the years, the Housing Authority has successfully developed various projects, including Westmoor Gardens, which provided homes for 64 families under subsidy. The acquisition of properties like the John Foti building and the rehabilitation of fire-damaged homes have further enhanced housing options for low-income families. With a dedicated board of directors and experienced executive leadership, the Englewood Housing Authority continues to serve the community with integrity and commitment.
