The Enfield Food Shelf was founded in the 1960s by a dedicated group of church women in Enfield, Connecticut, inspired by the Gospel challenge to 'Feed Thy Neighbor.' Over the decades, this grassroots initiative has evolved into a vital nonprofit organization, responding to the growing demand for food assistance in the community.

In 2011 alone, the Enfield Food Shelf distributed over 494,540 pounds of food, providing essential support to thousands of families in need. The organization has successfully engaged the community, fostering a spirit of volunteerism that strengthens its mission.
