Our Story
In early 1982, a group of visionary building professionals from the United States, Canada, and Sweden convened in Pine Island, Minnesota, to establish criteria for energy-efficient construction. This gathering led to the formation of the Energy Efficient Building Association, which has since evolved into the Energy and Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA). Over the years, EEBA has recognized the profound impact of the building industry on the environment and embraced an unmatched understanding of building science.
EEBA members are dedicated to being responsible stewards of resources used in residential and light commercial construction. Through their expertise, climate-specific criteria were developed, providing a blueprint for improved building performance tailored to regional climatic conditions. This document quickly became the industry standard for a systems approach to new construction.
With expanded educational opportunities, strong national alliances, and a broad network of partners, EEBA addresses the growing educational and informational needs of the building science industry. In 2008, the organization rebranded to reflect its commitment to sustainable building practices and collaboration.
