Our Story

Founded in 2005 by Dr. Rhea Jezer, the Symposium on Energy in the 21st Century began as a small gathering at Cazenovia College. Due to its immediate success, the event quickly outgrew its original venue and transitioned to larger spaces. After a brief affiliation with Synapse Sustainability Trust, Energy21 LTD was established to broaden the Symposium's reach and impact. Now in its twentieth year, the Symposium has evolved into a hybrid event, allowing participants to engage both in-person and remotely. Held at the Gateway Building at SUNY ESF, the Symposium attracts over 400 attendees from across New York State and beyond, including environmental leaders, municipal officials, and students from various colleges.

Impact

The Symposium serves as a vital platform for scientists, climate activists, and policymakers to collaborate on the transition to renewable energy and a low carbon economy. By fostering partnerships among labor, environmentalists, and corporations, Energy21 LTD plays a crucial role in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable practices.
