Our Story
The Encampment for Citizenship (EFC) was founded in 1946 by Algernon D. Black and Alice K. Pollitzer to provide young adults from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to learn citizenship principles through lived experience. The program emphasizes critical thinking, youth activism, and leadership qualities, aiming to empower young people to be positive forces in their communities.
Impact
Over 7,000 young people have been inspired by EFC to engage in social justice and civic responsibility, creating a nationwide network of alumni dedicated to social change.
