Our Story

The Empire Discovery Institute (EDI) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to overcoming the challenges faced by life science researchers in academia. Formed through a partnership between the University at Buffalo, the University of Rochester, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, EDI focuses on identifying critical pathways related to human disease to develop novel therapeutics. Established with a $35.4 million grant from New York State's Life Science Initiative, EDI is committed to transforming scientific discoveries into viable drug candidates.
