Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center was established in response to a high-profile child abuse case in the early 1990s. In 1997, a dedicated task force formed by local agencies led to the creation of ECCAC, which opened its doors in 2000. This center provides a child-friendly environment for advocacy and therapy for children affected by abuse and neglect. With the opening of a second center in Walton County in 2016, ECCAC has expanded its services to better serve the community.
