Storytelling Through Dance

Our Story

Founded in 2008 by Nicole Klaymoon, Embodiment Project is a Bay Area Performing Arts Organization that honors and expresses Black Social Dances and street dance forms as healing modalities. By integrating modern dance, choreo poetry, documentary theater, live song, and video art, EP articulates and holds stories of liberation. The organization uplifts the narratives of Black Indigenous and People of Color, survivors of sexual violence, youth, and communities impacted by the carceral system.

Our Impact

With a 15-year history of storytelling through movement, Embodiment Project creates systems of care that empower performers to collaboratively work with storytellers, ensuring they retain agency over their narratives. This approach fosters a safe environment for vulnerable autobiographical expressions.
