Established in 1974, Elder Services of Berkshire County Inc. has been a cornerstone for senior care in the region. Initially founded as a private, non-profit Home Care Corporation, it quickly evolved into an Area Agency on Aging, designated under the Older Americans Act. In 1997, the organization became the Aging Services Access Point (ASAP) for all of Berkshire County, ensuring that seniors have access to essential services.

With a mission to support the elderly, Elder Services offers a wide range of programs including Information and Referral, Care Management, Respite Care, and Healthy Aging Programs. Each month, over 1,000 elders benefit from in-home services, while approximately 950 meals are prepared daily in their kitchen. The agency also delivers over 220,000 Meals on Wheels annually, significantly enhancing the quality of life for seniors in the community.

Collaboration is key to their success, working alongside local Councils on Aging, senior centers, and health agencies to address the evolving needs of the elderly population. The agency's commitment to service is evident, as they adapt their programs every four years based on the priority needs identified within the community.
