Our Story
Established in 1994, the Elder Abuse Institute of Maine began as a multi-disciplinary coalition known as PEACE, focused on addressing the needs of elder abuse victims in Portland. In 2013, it transitioned into a nonprofit organization, securing federal funding for Maine's first housing for elder abuse victims, Martha's Cottage. Through partnerships with the State of Maine, the organization has expanded its services to better support older adults.
