Our Story
Founded in 1984 by Holocaust survivor Henry Kellen, the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center began as a response to rising Holocaust denial. Starting in a small space at the Jewish Community Center, the museum quickly gained popularity, leading to its establishment as a full-fledged museum in 1994. After a devastating fire in 2001, the community came together to raise $2.5 million for its reconstruction, and the museum reopened in 2008. Today, it stands as the only fully bilingual Holocaust museum in the United States, dedicated to educating the public about the Holocaust and combating prejudice and intolerance.
