Our Story

The El Paso Baptist Clinic was founded by Eleanor and Joe T. Poe, who began their journey by teaching Bible verses to children. One day, a mother approached Eleanor with her sick child, unable to afford the necessary medication for an ear infection. This moment sparked the creation of the clinic, which opened its doors with just one doctor, one receptionist, and one nurse—Eleanor herself. Over the past 50 years, the clinic has grown significantly, providing compassionate and spiritual care to the community.

Impact in the Community

Since its inception, the El Paso Baptist Clinic has served approximately 22,500 individuals, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to improving access to healthcare for those in need. With 32% of El Paso residents lacking medical insurance, the clinic plays a crucial role in the community, offering services to those who have nowhere else to turn.
