El Futuro

Our Story

El Futuro is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming mental health care for Latino families in North Carolina. Founded in 2001 by Dr. Luke Smith, this initiative began as a volunteer project to address the critical need for bilingual mental health services. By 2004, it became a nonprofit, committed to nurturing stronger families through culturally-responsive care.

Impact

Every year, El Futuro serves over 2,500 Latino youth and adults through outpatient clinics in Durham and Siler City, extending its reach to more than 53 counties via telehealth services. The organization has made a significant difference in the lives of thousands, helping children excel in school and parents regain hope.
