Our Story

The Egremont Land Trust was established in 1985 in response to a significant development threat to the historic Jug End Resort's 1100 acres. Through the efforts of dedicated community members, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management acquired the property, leading to the creation of the Jug End State Reservation and Wildlife Management Area. In 1998, the organization rebranded as the Egremont Land Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, committed to preserving the rural character of Egremont for generations to come.

Impact

Since its inception, the Egremont Land Trust has successfully preserved vital land parcels, including the Jug End State Reservation, while fostering community engagement in conservation efforts.
