Founded in 1972 by Dr. Jean Edwards, Edwards Center emerged from a heartfelt mission to support individuals with developmental disabilities. Inspired by her childhood friend David, who had Down syndrome, Dr. Edwards and a group of families created a nurturing environment for those excluded from public schools. Starting with just six participants, the organization has grown to support over 300 individuals, focusing on their independence and community integration.
For over 50 years, Edwards Center has empowered more than 107 residents and 300 program participants, providing essential services that foster independent living, employment, and community engagement.
