Our Story

In the mid-1990s, the world witnessed a public health emergency in Iraq, exacerbated by the regime of Saddam Hussein and a comprehensive United Nations trade embargo. This dire situation led to untold suffering, particularly among children who were unable to access life-saving healthcare. In response to these humanitarian concerns, the Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC) was founded in 1998. EPIC united veterans, Iraqi-Americans, aid workers, and advocates to form a grassroots movement aimed at improving humanitarian conditions in Iraq.
