Our Story
Founded in 1994 by dedicated locals, the Edisto Island Open Land Trust was established to combat the threat of overdevelopment on Edisto Island. With a shared vision, the founders aimed to protect the island's unique landscapes and cultural heritage.
Our Impact
Today, EIOLT proudly stewards 4,218 acres, including 42 conservation easements, safeguarding nearly 52% of Edisto Island’s high ground and marsh. This vital work ensures the preservation of the island's natural beauty for future generations.
