Our Story

The Eden Township Japanese Community Center was established in 1931 by Minoru Okada to create a gathering place for the community and preserve cultural ties to Japan. The original Ashland Gakuen Hall was built with support from local Japanese families and friends, hosting various cultural and community activities. After the hall was condemned in 1962, local niseis raised funds to construct the current center, which continues to serve as a hub for cultural education and community support.

Impact

The Eden Japanese Community Center has successfully provided a safe and welcoming environment for the Japanese American community, facilitating cultural preservation and community engagement through various programs and activities.
