Our Story

The Ecosystem Services Market Consortium (ESMC) was established in May 2019 and became a stand-alone non-profit in 2021. With a mission to advance ecosystem service markets, ESMC incentivizes farmers and ranchers to enhance soil health systems that benefit society. Representing a diverse membership across the agricultural sector supply chain, ESMC is committed to scaling sustainable agricultural outcomes, including increased soil carbon, reduced greenhouse gases, and improved water quality.

Our Impact

ESMC’s Eco-Harvest program is one of only two agricultural carbon programs to achieve third-party SustainCERT validation and verification for project Impact Units. In December 2023, Eco-Harvest earned Ag Data Transparent certification, demonstrating a commitment to transparent operations that protect producer data.
