Our Story

Founded in 1965, the Economic Security Corporation of Southwest Area (ESC) is dedicated to serving low-income individuals and families in Southwest Missouri. Starting with just two employees and a modest budget, ESC has grown to offer a wide range of programs aimed at alleviating poverty, including housing assistance, energy audits, and homeless services. The organization has a rich history of responding to community needs, adapting to challenges such as the 2011 Joplin tornado and the COVID-19 pandemic.
