Our Story

Founded on the first Earth Day in 1970, Ecology Action of Santa Cruz has been at the forefront of environmental activism. Inspired by the grassroots movements of the 60s and 70s, the organization began with a recycling center and has since expanded to include vital programs like Bike-to-Work and Bike-to-School. Today, it bridges the gap between corporate sustainability efforts and local community actions, making a significant impact on climate change.

Impact

In 2023, Ecology Action directly served over 866,508 individuals with community climate solutions, including training 37,784 children in bike and pedestrian safety. Their initiatives have successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions, saving over 200 tons of CO2 through community engagement.
