Our Story
Established in 1981, Orchard House was created to provide a welcoming space for older adults along the shoreline to gather, socialize, and engage in meaningful activities. Originally located at the First Baptist Church of Branford, it became the only day program serving the area between New Haven and New London. As demand for services grew, Orchard House relocated to the old Short Beach School in 1985, where it continues to thrive today.
Orchard House is dedicated to supporting older adults who require medical oversight in a nurturing environment that promotes independence and social-emotional enrichment. By offering a variety of programs, Orchard House helps reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, allowing seniors to age in place comfortably.
Recognizing the challenges faced by caregivers, Orchard House also provides support groups, respite care, and educational programs to assist families. For over 40 years, Orchard House has been committed to enhancing the quality of life for older adults in the shoreline communities from New Haven to East Lyme.
