Our Story
Established in 1996, East River Family Strengthening Collaborative, Inc. (ERFSC) is a vital organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of families and seniors in Washington, D.C. As one of the seven neighborhood-based Healthy Families Thriving Communities Collaboratives, ERFSC has evolved significantly since its inception. Originally part of the Marshall Heights Community Development Organization, it became an independent 501(c)(3) in 2000. Under the leadership of Executive Director Mae Best, ERFSC has expanded its budget from just over $700,000 to an impressive $9,000,000, securing essential contracts with city government agencies and foundations. The organization has developed impactful programs such as the East of the River Regional Socialization HUB, Community Prevention and Support, and Family Success Centers, all aimed at fostering community resilience and support.
