Our Story

The East Lyme Giving Garden was founded in early 2020 by dedicated local volunteers, starting with just 20 raised beds at the historic Samuel Smith House. By 2021, the garden expanded to a four-acre field owned by the Flanders Baptist and Community Church, achieving 501(c)(3) status. This initiative has transformed into a community hub, where volunteers cultivate and harvest organic vegetables, delivering over 4,000 pounds to local food banks in its inaugural season.

Our Impact

In 2023, the East Lyme Giving Garden produced nearly 11,000 pounds of fresh produce, benefiting food-insecure families across 21 towns and 63 agencies, reaching 15,000 individuals. This remarkable achievement highlights the garden's commitment to alleviating hunger in the community.
