Our Story
In the early 1990s, a visionary collaboration led by developer Tom Cousins, community leader Eva Davis, and Atlanta Housing Authority President Renée Lewis Glover sought to revitalize East Lake Meadows. This initiative focused on creating a mixed-income community, providing high-quality cradle-to-college education, and implementing wellness and economic programs. The East Lake Foundation was established to coordinate these efforts, partnering with residents, government, and private entities. Today, the success of this model has inspired 27 Purpose Built Communities nationwide, demonstrating that neighborhoods can be transformed into thriving environments where families achieve upward mobility and improved health outcomes.
