Founded in April 1970, the East Contra Costa Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the rich history of East Contra Costa County. The Society was established by passionate citizens who recognized the importance of safeguarding local heritage, particularly the historic John Marsh stone house. In 1986, the Society achieved a significant milestone by acquiring the Byer/Nail house, which now serves as a museum showcasing the area's historical artifacts and stories.
