Our Story

Founded on September 14, 2016, the East Boston Community Soup Kitchen was established by Sandra Nijjar, an El Salvadorian immigrant, who sought to combat hunger and provide essential services after facing job loss. This soup kitchen has become a cornerstone of the East Boston community, adapting its services to meet the growing needs, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Impact

Every week, the East Boston Community Soup Kitchen serves over 600 individuals, offering not just meals but also clothing, personal hygiene items, and access to vital services like housing aid and addiction recovery programs. The organization has evolved to address the increasing demands of the community.
