Our Story

Founded in 1995 by Dan Nepstad and Toby McGrath, the Earth Innovation Institute began as IPAM in Brazil's Amazon. With a commitment to shaping public policy through evidence-based research, the organization has evolved to address global challenges in sustainable development. In 2010, the IPAM International Program was established in San Francisco, leading to the independent formation of the Earth Innovation Institute in 2013.

Our Impact

Earth Innovation Institute focuses on climate-friendly rural development, promoting sustainable farming, forestry, and fisheries in tropical regions. By enhancing productivity on already-cleared land, the organization aims to feed more people while combating deforestation and climate change.
