Early Math and Language Skills Development

Our Story

In the summer of 2020, two passionate educators, Mary and Jay, united through a Family Literacy Certificate program at The Pennsylvania State University. Recognizing the critical link between early academic skills and future success, they founded the Early Math and Language Initiative (EMLI). This initiative focuses on the intersection of math and language, aiming to support families from under-resourced communities in fostering essential skills in their children.

Our Impact

Research shows that children in poverty often lack vital early math skills, which can hinder their academic journey. EMLI addresses these social, cultural, and economic barriers, preparing children for the challenges of higher education and successful careers.
