Our Story

Mark DeGarmo Dance (MDD), founded in 1982, is dedicated to educating under-resourced and marginalized communities, especially children, through the transformative power of dance. Based in New York City, MDD creates, performs, and disseminates original artistic and scholarly work, fostering intercultural community through dance.

MDD's evidence-based dance and literacy model significantly benefits youth from economically challenged backgrounds, yielding a societal return of $2.11 for every $1 contributed, as highlighted by a Columbia Business School study.
