Flash the Basset Hound inspired the creation of the Dunn County Humane Society in 1992 after a tragic act of violence took his life. In his memory, the organization was founded to ensure that no animal suffers the same fate. Since opening the shelter in 1995, DCHS has been committed to finding loving, permanent homes for companion animals in need.
In 2023, DCHS made a significant difference by caring for 1,032 pets, reuniting 113 missing animals with their families, and finding homes for 513 cats and dogs. The organization continues to uphold its mission of animal welfare and community support.
