Our Story
In July 2018, Dana Ryan faced a near-fatal drowning that left her with a traumatic brain injury. Doctors gave her only three weeks to live, but Dana's spirit and determination shone through. In September of that year, a group of compassionate individuals met Dana and felt compelled to help. They organized a car show, transforming it into a fundraiser to support Dana's therapy. The event was a resounding success, paving the way for future initiatives.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Drive For Dana was established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2021. The mission expanded to assist other medically fragile children on Long Island, aiming to provide essential services and equipment. In 2022, Drive For Dana continued to support Dana while also helping three additional families. The impact grew in 2023, with ten more families receiving vital assistance.
Looking ahead, the organization is excited to introduce the Winter Breakfast Fundraiser in 2024, aiming to make it an annual event to further support children in need. Join the movement to make a difference!
