Our Story

Born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the culture of giving back is deeply rooted in the community. In 2010, the Dream for Future Africa Foundation was established to ensure a brighter future for African people. Initially focused on education for younger students, the organization recognized the importance of preparing individuals for the workforce. By investing in programs that teach tangible skills, the foundation empowers students to take control of their financial destinies. Instead of merely providing necessities, the goal is to equip individuals with the knowledge to create and sell products, fostering true independence.

With a commitment to building a sustainable future, the foundation has invested in fully equipped training facilities and partnerships with local organizations. These initiatives provide practical skills, job certifications, and microfinance opportunities, impacting students, their families, and the broader community. Currently, the foundation is funding a vocational training center with over 250 enrolled students and is exploring the opening of a second center.

Impact

Since its inception in 2013, the DFFAF Vocational Training Center in Aleltu, Ethiopia, has offered specialized curricula with multi-year, certified programs for secondary school-aged students. Students receive training in garment design, sewing, basic computer skills, and technology. Graduates leave with at least two professional technical skills, empowering them to start and lead their own businesses. In 2021, a comprehensive technology upgrade was funded for the center, enhancing the learning experience and preparing students for a competitive job market.
