Our Story

DREAM was founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, transforming an abandoned lot in East Harlem into vibrant baseball diamonds for local youth. Over the years, it evolved to address educational needs, launching the DREAM Charter School in 2008, the first public school built in East Harlem in 50 years. This organization focuses on leveling the playing field for children through a holistic education model that includes academics, social-emotional learning, health and wellness, and family engagement.

Impact

DREAM serves over 2,600 youth annually, achieving a remarkable 96% graduation rate at its charter high school. The organization has a strong track record of improving literacy and graduation rates in the East Harlem community, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also grow socially and emotionally.
