Our Story
In May 2016, Jim Barnhardt awoke with a vision to create a meal ministry in Bismarck, North Dakota. With the encouragement of his wife, Cindy, Jim began to share this vision with community leaders, pastors, and city officials. After years of planning and collaboration, the Dream Center Bismarck was officially sanctioned in 2019. The Adopt-a-Block program launched shortly after, focusing on food distribution to local schools and families in need.
As the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, the Dream Center expanded its services to six days a week, ensuring that the most vulnerable populations received the support they needed. By April 2022, the Dream Center facility opened its doors, providing free meals and an on-site food pantry, alongside essential services from various partnering organizations.
