Founded in June 1987 by passionate parents, Down Syndrome Alabama began as a grassroots effort to advocate for children with Down syndrome. Originally known as PADS, the organization officially adopted its current name in 2013, reflecting its commitment to supporting individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and communities across Alabama.
