The Dow Street Community Music School was founded by Dr. Andrea Dawson, a dedicated professor of violin and viola at Middle Tennessee State University. In 2023, her long-standing dream of providing music instruction to children and adults in a community setting became a reality at 1272 Dow Street, following a comprehensive renovation of the building. Dr. Jill Austin, a management professor at MTSU, plays a vital role in developing policies and operations for the school.
Through music education, the Dow Street Community Music School enhances the lives of children and adults by fostering essential skills such as confidence, focus, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, perseverance, and accountability.
