About DOVE, Inc.

DOVE, Inc. was established in 1978 by dedicated volunteers who recognized the urgent need for support services for victims of domestic violence in Quincy, Massachusetts. The organization was born from the efforts of the Quincy Mayor’s Commission on Women, who identified the critical issues surrounding battering and spousal abuse. With the collaboration of local churches, hospitals, and law enforcement, DOVE opened the first domestic violence shelter on the South Shore in September 1978.

Since its inception, DOVE has made a significant impact in the community, sheltering nearly 5,000 families and answering over 45,000 calls through its 24-hour hotline. The organization has also served more than 3,000 clients through its community-based services, providing essential support and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence.
