Our Story

The Dorson Community Foundation, founded by Sonia Y. Scott, is dedicated to providing inner-city youth in Essex County, NJ with meaningful alternatives to drugs and gangs. Through self-discovery and civic engagement, students are empowered on their journey to post-secondary education and career success.

Impact

Since 1992, Dorson Community has positively impacted over 2000 students, with an impressive 98% of graduates pursuing postsecondary degrees. The foundation has awarded scholarships to prestigious institutions, including Cornell University Summer College, ensuring college readiness and career development.
