DORF was founded in 2018 by artists Eric Manche and Sara Vanderbeek in response to the closure of art spaces in Austin due to rising real estate prices. Starting in a garage studio, DORF has expanded to a new location in Zilker Point, Austin, dedicated to supporting Texas-based artists and building community partnerships.
Since its inception, DORF has provided a platform for over 80 artists, produced various performances and events, and raised significant funds for local nonprofit advocacy organizations. The organization has distributed over $18K in artist stipends and raised over $15K for community causes.
Donations to DORF support programming, commissions, and stipends for artists, enhancing the organization's capacity to provide spaces for artists and engage with the community through thought-provoking cultural programming.
