Our Story

In 1978, a group of dedicated mothers gathered to address women's issues in their community, leading to the establishment of the Battered Women’s Project. Starting with a modest budget of $183.79, they provided essential services from a small church annex. Over the years, the organization has transformed into the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County, expanding its reach and services to support victims of domestic violence.

Our Impact

The DVRC is committed to preventing and responding to domestic violence by changing the social conditions and beliefs that perpetuate abuse. Through collaboration, the center offers safety, support, advocacy, and education to individuals and families across nine communities, from Westerly to Exeter.
