About Domestic Violence Resource Center
Founded in 1975 by a courageous survivor, the Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC) has been a beacon of hope for those affected by domestic violence in Washington County. Initially starting as a community group called Women Together, the organization has evolved significantly over the decades. In 1979, DVRC opened Washington County’s first domestic violence shelter, providing a safe haven for survivors. The organization has continually expanded its services, including the establishment of a 24-hour crisis line and various support programs aimed at empowering survivors through advocacy and education.
